How do I book a shoot and what happens next?

Please send me an email through the contact form via the contact section on my website. I will be in touch within 48 hours. Please provide as much information as possible as well as any questions you may have. There is a deposit to lock in the shoot date and I send this to you in the form of an invoice with a contract.

When is the best age for newborn photography?

Although you can have “newborn” photography any time up to 8 weeks, usually newborn photo shoots take place before your baby is two weeks old, around the 5-14 days old mark. This is because at this age they are very sleepy and any posing (although extremely minimal and organic - I am not a studio photographer who does newborn posing) so go with the flow with your baby. I would say that if you are wanting to get those super brand new newborn photos, please do reach out as soon as you can to get booked in.

What if I miss the newborn stage?

However, it’s never too late to capture your baby’s milestones. If you have missed the newborn window, even by a few weeks, please please don’t worry, it is still and always will be the most wonderful time to document your beautiful new baby’s story. First smiles, eye-contact, perhaps a little bit more engaged, maybe even little giggles - so I’ll still be able to capture those glorious intimate moments for you.

What sort of times do you shoot?

I am a big light chaser, having worked in the film and food industry for many years shooting with natural light, light is so important and if we are shooting outside, you can’t beat that gorgeous morning and late afternoon light. Ideally I like to shoot at sunrise or sunset (golden hour is the hour often before sunset is beautiful) but I can work around you as much as possible. I’ll discuss with you your preferences and what you’re after.

If we are shooting inside, then any time in the day that works for you - mid-morning is usually a good time.

What happens during a shoot?

So once we arrive at either the location or at your home, we’ll have a quick chat about your vision, what you’re happy and comfortable with and a general quick chit chat. I want you to be completely comfortable and I am completely you-led. My shooting style is very docu-style like and whilst sometimes, I’ll quietly observe as you interact, while other times, I’ll offer a couple of gentle cues and prompts here and there to help guide the moment. It’s a fully laid-back experience, and I’ll work alongside you to capture your connection.

What should we wear?

I will send you a style guide to give you an idea prior to the shoot.

How far do you travel?

I am based in Canterbury but can travel around an hour or so around the South East. If you’re outside of that area though, please do message me. Additional travel costs incur after 20 miles.

What if my baby cries or my children are not playing ball?

Absolutely not a worry at all! Having worked with children of all ages as a judo coach in schools and clubs for many, many years I am well-versed in littles losing interest. I try to keep all shoots as super engaging as possible, working with you to capture your moments as we go - all my shoots are docu-style, in the moment with minimal posing and don’t forget - even if there are some upset moments here and there, there will be imagery of you comforting them which is part of your gorgeous family story.

I’d like breastfeeding imagery, is this okay?

Oh absolutely. These are precious moments and I’d love to capture them for you.

Are you an inclusive photographer?

Absolutely. My job as a photographer is to tell your story and every single story should and fundamentally deserves to be told. All of my clients are safe with me and I want to help you feel as free as possible to be fabulous yourself in front of the camera.

What happens after the shoot?

After the shoot, I will send you a gallery of around 40-50 images for you to choose your choices. If you wish to purchase more, this option is available. You will receive full-size high-res images for you to do as you with as you wish.

Do you sell any prints?

Not quite yet - but watch this space though.
